Esther Knowles
Esther Knowles was an Esperance girl from the age of two, who then became Emmeline and Fred Pethick-Lawrences secretary.

She worked for Emmeline in the WSPU office from the age of 14 - she was loyal to Emmeline for life.

Esther gave Nita Needham, her neice, Mary Neal's papers on her death. It was Nita who then gave them to Lucy Neal.
