They leave the Mission
Orthodoxy, conventionality, timidity, had their way, we left the meeting sure that our work with these friends, many of them very dear to us, was over.
But it was not until later in the summer that Emmeline and I sent in our formal resignation, and left all that we cared about so much to begin all over again on lines that seemed to us more in keeping with the needs of the time.
It was in 1895 that we struck our Camp and went out into the new life.
1895 was a winter that left an indelible mark on Emmeline and me, it brought so vividly before us the sufferings of the poor and the injustice and tyranny of social laws and trade conditions
